Gah! Noooo - I just got rid of my cold about a week ago ... and now I've caught one again -.-! It's my own fault I guess. I probably shouldn't have gone trudging through the mud in the cold on Sunday ... while only wearing a tank top and a jacket. But it was the last opening day of the archaeological park at Carnuntum and I'd promised a friend that we'd go. Back to coughing my lungs up and sneezing and feeling like I might suffocate in my sleep -.- (have I mentioned how much I hate this?).

The trip itself was really fun, though! Ever since the takeover they've begun rebuilding some of the Roman houses, so that some of the visitors who're not quite as gifted at imagining whole buildings with only the foundations to go by can actually get a sense of what the city would've looked like in Roman times. By now they've rebuilt one of the houses, a villa and are in the process of rebuilding the bath houses :D! They're trying really hard to only use Roman constructional engineering, too. Apparently they're even baking their own bricks using Roman methods! And it really does look gorgeous! I mean, just look at this for example: Great hall of the villa.

In other news, how awesome was Merlin on Saturday?! Cue Spoilers for Episode 8 )

Well, I'd better get back to bed now ... and continue reading that stuff about Chinese history ;(

Do you know these days when you feel slightly sickly, but not enough to stay in bed and gravity in itself feels like its just increased its pull on you tenfold? That's what today was for me (figures that once I am back in bed I'm beginning to feel better ...). Oh well, at least it doesn't look like I'm going to get sick - which, on second thought, sucks ... :P

You see, last week I had to go to the dermatologist's in order to get one of these birth-mark-type things removed from my cheek. It hurt a LOT, I kid you not - or at least the anaesthetic injection did, because after that I pretty much couldn't move half of my face for the rest of the day ... (just imagine me smiling then :D).

Anyway, immediately after the procedure he slapped a plaster on my cheek and told me not to remove it until checkup in one week's time - and not to get it wet under ANY circumstances. I sooo hate not being able to properly wash my face! I never realised that my feeling clean depended so much on washing my face - but it does! And now I feel all icky most of the time ... But to cut to the chase, checkup was yesterday - and in my opinion I look like Frankenstein's monster right now (... or at least, like his sister might have looked), My brother was really helpful about it, too, once he got a good look at my face: he said that when I talked it looked like I was talking out of two mouths now ... *sigh* Siblings ... you gotta love them.

Of course I'd take a silly little scar over being alive and not getting cancer any day but ... let's just say I do hope this will fade away rather soon - because I hate people staring -.-
